Dear friends, art lovers and collectors:
I hope this note finds you well! I’m very pleased to share with you some exciting news about my art career and upcoming projects.
New studio at the Clemente Soto Velez
I recently got accepted to one of the most vibrant art studio buildings in NYC. The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center is my new art home. It is located at 107 Suffolk Street in the Lower East Side (and is conveniently walking distance from home). I can’t wait to share with you all my new work on Saturday, December 6, 2014 when I will be hosting an open studio. If you want to visit beforehand, just drop me a line.
“Mighty Winds” chosen for publication
The “Mighty Winds” painting has been chosen for publication by Robyn Ellenbogen of the Long Branch Arts Council in New Jersey. She is the Art Editor and Project Coordinator for the upcoming journal of poetry and art related to Hurricane Sandy. It will be available in November 2014.
Erick Sánchez’s mural at Moon Rabbit
I was recently commissioned to paint the main art piece for an Asian restaurant opening in New Rochelle, NY. Moon Rabbit will be the new home of the 12′ x 6′ mural telling the story of this classic Japanese tail. Check it out in person and have a lovely dinner at 179 East Main Street, New Rochelle, NY
New works inspired by The Alchemist
I have been working for a few months on my new series based on the book “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. In this series, I’m depicting my interpretation of Santiago’s journey, which I strongly identify with. Not only because he is perusing his dreams but for the alchemy itself which I use in my work.
Erick Sánchez’s artwork at Borimix 2014
My new piece “El Oasis de Al-Fayuom” has been selected to be included in 2014 BORIMIX Art Exhibition: Aqueous Fervor. Curated by Miguel Trelles, this exhibition invites artists to pay homage to the legendary Puerto Rican poet Julia de Burgos through the allegory of water. This exhibition will open to the public on November 2014 at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center at 107 Suffolk st.
